The Center
Our language center is made up of two parts. The school has 8 classrooms,
a library, exhibition room and offices, located at the entrance. We have
8 computers for internet access, as well as wireless connection for the
students who bring their laptop.
The lodging area, on the other hand, has 10 double rooms with private
bathroom, and 10 single rooms with shared bathroom, as well as a
cafeteria for breakfast. Between the two buildings, students can enjoy
the garden, relax in the pool or take a siesta in a hammock.
« Playalingua del Caribe » International Language Center offers
intensive Spanish courses to students from all over the world, as well
as English, German, French and Italian courses for local residents.
Playalingua was founded on May 5th, 1999 and officially inaugurated on
September 5th of that same year. The school benefits from its creators
33 years pedagogical experience in Europe.
Playalingua is officially recognized by ICAT (Instituto de Capacitación
de los Trabajadores del Estado) and by SECTUR (Secretaría de Turismo).
Activities
As an optional addition to the Spanish courses, and depending on the
students´ interests, Playalingua organizes one or two day tours to the
main sites of interest of the area and the Yucatan (archaeological sites,
ecological parks, ecotourism and adventure).
Mayan culture and language courses can be organized, as well as wood or
stone carving, wall painting and ceramic painting (see optional classes).
On the other hand, Playa del Carmen is a perfect spot for all
watersports :
diving, sailing, snorkeling, windsurfing, kitesurfing and fishing.
Horseback riding in the jungle as well as enjoying the beach and
nightlife.
Teachers
All the staff of the school, both pedagogical and administrative, is
highly experienced, responsible and motivated.
Professional teachers, of the highest quality, teach their mother tongue.
A pedagogical director is in charge of the methods as well as of the
teachers´ training.
Playa del Carmen
Playa del Carmen is a picturesque town located a 60 kilometer south of
Cancun, in front of the island of Cozumel, between the magnificent
Caribbean sea and the jungle of the Yucatan peninsula.
Playa del Carmen, the largest town in the Riviera Maya (about 100,000
inhabitants) is a bustling city with activities, restaurants and
nightlife for everybody. On 5th avenue, you can find a wide variety of
jewelry stores, Mexican handicraft and art stores, t-shirts, designer
clothing and exotic items.
Playa del Carmen attracts numerous vacationists who enjoy its Mexican
atmosphere, its white sand beach dotted with small restaurants, coconuts
and its main streets with many boutiques.
Playa del Carmen is located 40 minutes from the island of Cozumel by
ferry.
